"Monkeys" opportunity as VAT increases

"Monkeys" opportunity as VAT increases
The increase in the standard rate of VAT to 20% announced by the Chancellor means an imminent cost increase for most building owners contemplating extensions, repairs and alterations.
Construction industry experts agree there are serious concerns about quality too!
It is expected that there will now be a proliferation in the number of "cowboy builders" seeking "cash-in-hand" work that invariably is of dubious quality with little protection for the consumer.
Whilst initially appearing an attractive option, it is likely to result in false economy often leading to a need for even more costly remedial work - and all with no sustainable guarantee.
It is possible to mitigate the effects of the VAT increase with professional guidance but time is VERY LIMITED in which to act.
