The code for sustainable homes moves to Code 4 in 2010 and Code 5 in 2013.

The Code sets standards for new homes based on 9 categories: -

· Energy
· Water usage
· Materials
· Rainwater drainage
· Waste
· Pollution
· Health and Well-being
· Management
· Ecology

Code 4 is a significantly higher standard than present 2009 Building Regulations and clients need to be aware that buildings will need to be fully detailed prior to seeking Planning Permission.
